Sammy could no longer fit through his pet door. His owners put him on a diet that had him losing weight at a steady rate. Throughout his diet, his weight was always a function of the number of weeks he had been dieting. After 2 weeks, Sammy's weight was down to 150 lbs. After 32 weeks , his weight was down to 120lbs.

a. name two ordered pair that belongs to the function

  1. a) Taking an ordered pair as (weeks on deit, weight), this means to pairs are (2, 150) and (32, 120).

    b) You have two points.  Find the equation of the line that contains the two points, using point-slope form.

  2. ordered pair (week,weight)

    A  (2,150)

    B  (32,120)

    equation

    when  2 points are given

                 (y-y1)/(y2-y1)  = (x - x1)/(x2-x1)

                 (y - 150)/(120 - 150)   = (x  - 2)/(32  -2)

                  y - 150   =  (x -2) *  -1

                  y -150  = -x+2

                  x+y    = 152
