Question:

Stuck on how to address someone in my letter?

I'm writing a letter to my swimming teacher asking her if I can help out in her life-saving class next term while I wait until I'm 16 so I can become a lifeguard, but I'm not sure how to address her. At swimming, everyone just calls her 'Wendy'.

Her name is Wendy Davies. I get on quite well with her, and 'Mrs Davies' seems too formal but I'm not sure.

Should I write:

Dear Wendy,

Dear Wendy Davies,

Dear Mrs Davies

Or something else?

Then how shall I sign off at the end: yours sincerely?

Weird question I know, but it makes all the difference!

  1. I would address her as Mrs.Davies, since you are addressing her abut something important involving a job...if you address her by Mrs.Davies she'll know that your fit to handle the job, instead of writing a sloppy letter.

I would also finnish off the letter by saying,"thank you for your attention reguarding this matter". That is a very formal way tooo say it at the end of the letter......

I would also "Sincerely" not "yours sincerely"....then your name(of course)

  2. If you called her Wendy at swimming, then I would go with that.  She would think it odd if you started with Mrs. Davies.  As a closer I would say " I hope to hear from you soon" and then sign your name.  I don't think you have to be extremely formal with her since you already have a history with her.  Good luck!

  3. If you're in the US then Ms. Davies would be appropriate.  Dear Wendy is too familiar and Dear Wendy Davies is pretentious and awful... Yours Sincerely, or just Sincerely would be a good ending.

  4. Start out with

       What up playa?

blah blah blahblah blah bla blah blahbalhblhabahlb

blahblah bahlahba bal  balh balh b;ah.

                                                     Keep it gangsta

                                                                      yo name
