Matthew 5:11...."Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me.

See Matt 10:22...All men will hate you because of me, but he who stands firm to the end will be saved

Luke 6:23....Rejoice in that day and leap for joy, because great is your reward in heaven. For that is how their fathers treated the prophets.

Acts 5:41....The apostles left the Sanhedrin, rejoicing because they had been counted worthy of suffering disgrace for the Name.

Romans 5:3....Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance

John 15:20....Remember the words I spoke to you: 'No servant is greater than his master.' If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also. If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also.

1 Peter 4:12-19....12 Dear friends, do not be surprised at the painful trial you are suffering, as though something strange were happening to you. 13 But rejoice that you participate in the sufferings of Christ, so that you may be overjoyed when his glory is revealed. 14 If you are insulted because of the name of Christ, you are blessed, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you. 15 If you suffer, it should not be as a murderer or thief or any other kind of criminal, or even as a meddler. 16 However, if you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but praise God that you bear that name. 17 For it is time for judgment to begin with the family of God; and if it begins with us, what will the outcome be for those who do not obey the gospel of God? 18 And,

"If it is hard for the righteous to be saved,

what will become of the ungodly and the sinner?"

19 So then, those who suffer according to God's will should commit themselves to their faithful Creator and continue to do good.

Comment.( i found this comment in my research of Matt 5:11).

The basic reason why God’s people are persecuted is that they are no part of the present wicked system of things. Jesus told his disciples: “If you were part of the world, the world would be fond of what is its own. Now because you are no part of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, on this account the world hates you.” (John 15:19).

Similarly, the apostle Peter stated: “Because you do not continue running with them in this course to the same low sink of debauchery, they are puzzled and go on speaking abusively of you.”—1 Peter 4:4.

The early followers of Christ experienced the truthfulness of those words. Even when they were flogged for continuing to preach about the Kingdom, they rejoiced “because they had been counted worthy to be dishonored in behalf of his name. And every day in the temple and from house to house they continued without letup teaching and declaring the good news about the Christ, Jesus.” (Acts 5:41, 42)

Is the above comment right , why or why not ?

  1. The only people who can react with happiness when they are treated badly are those who have cultured the immortal life within. They know that this physical life is not their real life.

I am speaking of a life that is truly spiritual... with its basis in the eternal. More on my bio.

  2. I think you have  to much there already  but I will just say  ready psalm 119  yesterday  the first   few verses  seemed to connect  with that.

almost as if  Jesus was re-quoting it  slightly differently.

    Psalm 119

    ' Aleph

1 [a] Blessed are they whose ways are blameless,

who walk according to the law of the LORD.

2 Blessed are they who keep his statutes

and seek him with all their heart.

    3 They do nothing wrong;

           they walk in his ways.

4 You have laid down precepts

that are to be fully obeyed.

5 Oh, that my ways were steadfast

           in obeying your decrees!

  3. The church has always been called upon to suffer for it's faith.  Paul said, in the world you will have tribulations.

I believe God rewards those who suffer for his sake.  In the future tribulation it records a great persecution of the church.   When Christ returns he will reward his saints (Rev. 11:15-18).

Missing from the above reasons for persecutions is that Satan persecutes the things of God.  We even find Satan entering Judas before he betrayed Jesus.  Speaking to the Pharisees who persecuted Jesus and his followers Jesus said in John 8:44,  "Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do."
