Student Visa in Perth, AU: can I transfer to another school after my 6 month student visa expires?

Hi there! a good day to all of you... I'm an Asian coming to Perth, AU in the coming months and I am thinking of transferring to another school right after my 6-month student visa expires; my question is, will they permit me to transfer & work out my papers (student visa) and is it necessary for me to go back home to my country just to re-apply? Or do I need another student visa? Can I fix it while in Australia or do I have to go back to my country? thanks in advance...
