Question:

Student aid report....california aid report?

I filed my fafsa back in march. I keep reading that you're supposed to get this SAR (student aid report) letter, but I've never gotten one. However, I did get a CAR (California aid report). Are these the same thing?

If they're not the same thing, how can I get my SAR letter? My mailman sucked a while back so it could've gotten lost/misdelivered.

  1. They are not the same thing.  The SAR is from filing the FAFSA online.  FAFSA sends this to you either via mail or via email.  It is possible you received it by email and did not recognize it, or it got sucked into your spam filter.

To get a copy simply go back to the FAFSA website at www.fafsa.ed.gov.  On the left hand side of the screen you will see a 1, 2, 3 menu.  Click on 3 (Follow up) and choose View and Print my SAR.

    Good luck.
