Question:

Student finance - change of circumstance?

Didn't meet requirements for the course I wanted. Uni offered me the same course with a foundation year. I accepted. A different course means I need to inform Student Finance Direct of the change. I have most of the form filled in apart from the tuition fee for my course 08/09.

Since I'll be on a foundation year 08/09, how much is the tuition fee? The original fee was £3145...doesn't this half or something for a foundation year? I don't know and none of the sites I'm finding are helping. Please help, this is really important!

  1. Half fee? No sorry it will be the same fee in foundation as in other years.

  2. I got approved a while ago, when I applied for the course I wanted the Fee for it was £3,070, then a couple of weeks ago I got an email from the University saying, "Oh sorry due to blah blah blah, something or other, the Fee has risen to £3,145"

Okay so by now all my Student Finance has been approved and then I have to get in touch with them again and get them to change it to £3,145.

I think no matter what happens to you, you will always get what you asked for although, i'm not liking the idea of the interest fee's being doubled starting this year.  Last year it was 2.4%, now it's 4.8%, we have to pay a h**l of a load extra.

Oh yea, should you not have fully got accepted to the course you wanted before applying for student finance, I applied for my course in October and applied for my Student Finance in March, which was the earliest time possible, either way, a foundation year will cost the same as a normal one, it just means that now you have 4 years instead of 3.
