Student is shot and killed on campus by a Police Officer. What is your opinion?

I live in fresno and about 2 days ago there was a shooting at a local high school. Apparently the 17 year old boy came up behind a police office and struck him in the head with a metal bat. The officer shot and killed him on the campus.

What do you think about the situation? Did he deserve it? Should non lethal force have been used? I am just curious to hear different opinions.

Lets see 17 year old ..snuck up and hit cop in bacl of head with bat once already....yup kid deserved to die, tried to kill cop and sounds like cop got lucky.  Reading newspaper article. Cops was very justified....

Sounds like "suicide by cop." Too bad one of his friends or family couldn't have seen his warning signs or gotten him help. He had a baseball bat, and a butcher knife in his pocket and he was hiding, then jumped out on to a policeman from behind...not a rational move. Policemen die just like you and me and they must be allowed to protect themselves. If they hesitate everytime something like that occured to see if the person "really means it" then they pay with their life. I don't believe that is a fair tradeoff for them. They really don't make enough money for that.....Hindsight is always 20/20 and to second guess the policeman in that situation is really pointless. I would suggest riding along there in Fresno for a week or 2, at night especially on the weekends, in the worst neighboorhoods. Then repost your message. My friend was a nurse intern in the county hospital there and she called it the "gun and knife" club on the weekends....

yes, he deserved what he got.

it was attempted murder and the cop had a right to defend himself against an armed assailent.

age is irrelevant in this case.

ughhh yes the kid did diserved it.. he had a weapon and attacked the officer.he probably had no other way to defend himself...Now it would of been better if the cop shot him in the leg or arm so that it would stop the kid from being violent and he could get medical help, then go to jail for what he did....
