Student journalist looking for story ideas?

Hey everyone, I'm a journalism student looking for a story idea for an arts magazine I will be writing for this spring.

The general topics can cover pretty much anything from philosophy, modern art and social issues.

I'm looking for a topic that will fit the general outline of the magazine and spark interest in readers.

Anyone have any ideas?

How about a monthly writing contest using a random image for a prompt.

Several others are using it, critiquing each other and growing as writers.
