Student travel for community service?

Question

I am wanting to do a Community Service travel program over the summer. It is almost $6,000, any ideas on how to raise all that money by summer 09'? Is there any way I can get something similar to a scholarship for it?

if you have a running club in your town you might be able to have them sponsor a 5k race to raise money for you!!!
