  1. dude, after the first week of campus food you're gonna be craving some McDonald's, or at the least, some Pappa John's.  Go ahead and make the call to daddy and ask for an advancement on your $2,400 a month allowance, if he's sympathetic in the least bit he'll forward it.  I know, I'm a professional slacker living off trust funds.  Hope this helps.

  2. this can very highly differ depending upon the individual involved.  In theory, if a student is living in the dorms, one could go weeks without spending any money - they could eat every meal at the cafeteria and spend their time doing free stuff at the dorm or on campus.  Conversely, I knew students who ordered food daily, bought new music weekly, went to concerts and drank every night, spending hundreds weekly.  I suppose a good average is probably about $50 a week for personal items, beer drinking, and off-campus food.  Of course, if you live in an apartment rather than the dorms your food costs can skyrocket if you eat out a lot, or be minimal if you eat ramen noodles all the time.  But your up-front investment is less, since you are not paying for the cafeteria contract.
