Studios listed on the riajamaica.com site are in Kingston. I need to record something in Montego Bay. Any?

I produce Punjabi (East Indian) music and wanted Reggae or Hip-Hop mixed. So, trying to see if I can get some local acts to record few vocals while I'm there on vaccation.

For what you say you want to do i STRONGLY recommend working with a kingston studio. I know at least two REALLY good studios in Montego Bay (although i cant remember any contact information). I do NOT however, know of many artistes in mobay who would give a high quality rendition of the sound you are looking for.

Most of the good Jamaican artistes move to Kingston in search of success. It will be much more difficult to find the kind of talent that will be worth it for your project IN MONTEGO BAY.

The best thing to do is to do a DEMO recording at your current studio, contact a reliable studio or producer in Kingston, send them the files and have them record the local artistes part and send it to you. To select the artiste you want, ask them (the local producer) to give you a link to their myspace page so you can hear if the artiste has the sound you want. Be prepared to send payment in advance (all the more reason why you should ensure that you are dealing with reputable people beforehand).

In these days of Protools & Nuendo, this is how MOST international projects are recorded. The artistes never actually meet unless the record becomes a hit.

What sort of studio do you need and what facilities? There are a few in Ocho Rios... which does not seem too far away.
