Study Abroad if you're already abroad?

I'm from the US and I'm thinking of going to college in Canada. If I do, would I be able to participate in study abroad programs there?

  1. are you in college? usually, your college will alreayd have study abroad offices. they may have special agreements with schools so that you can directly become a exchange student in countries.

    otherwise, simply find a canada school you are interested in, and look under their study abroad link. it will have info on how to enroll there.


  2. Yes. When you study abroad you hold transient status at your host school. That means that while you are enrolled at your home school in Canada, you can study at another school and your home school will accept the credit from the foreign school.

    In other words, you moving to Canada from the US and going to school there is not studying abroad. You will be an international student.
