Question:

Study Abroad in France - Feedback?

I am thinking about study abroad in France this summer.

I have two questions:

1. Where should I go? I am looking at going either to Paris or to Nice. Any recommendations?

2. I found an organization called World Link Education (www.wle-france.com) with office in Seattle. Thier programs seems to be a perfect match between class room and outside activities. Anyone having any feedback about them?

  1. Hi Ken,

I believe World Link Education to be a very good choice for study in France. They offer a perfect mix of classroom studies and outside activities as you need. I don't have a experience in Nice or Paris but studied with them in Annecy 2006. I had an great time and I made a lot of new friends from all over the world. My French improved a lot as well which of course is the most important.

  2. My personal opinion is to stick with a university program.  The site you gave, to me, is little more than an overpriced vacation with perhaps mediocre language lessons.  Which is maybe what you want.

Try the Alliance Française if you decide not to go with a university program.  It doesn't have to be YOUR university program, but you might be a little late in registering for another university.

If you do decide to go, Paris would be more of a cultural experience, where Nice would be a partying experience where you'd learn very little.  In this regard, I have experience.  When I studied in France several years ago, all the students who went to Nice learned zilch, while those of us in Lyon, Poitiers, Angers had tremendously improved our language skills.
