Study Abroad- in France?

Question

I am a JR in high school and I was thinking about studyiong abroad for a semester or a year when I get to college. I'm really bad in French so i will get better then by my sophomore or JR year of college ill prob be ready

Thats still a whiles away but my parents what information now

I have a questions to anyone has already done it

1. How is the experience

2. How hard was it to find a job

3. How do you cash checks..is it the same way here

4. How easily did you find friends and how did the locals treat you

5. Are you still in touch with your foreign friends?

6. What are some sites and other resources I can use to find out more information
