Question:

Study Hall in High School..? (plz read below)?

i'm just wondering- why do so many people say, "don't take study hall if you want to get into a good college", when study hall doesn't even show up on a high school transcript?

(also, in my school, we have optional summer school courses, which open up a free space for study hall)

Another question, does it look better (assuming they get the same grades) if one student takes 8 classes in a year, and the other student takes 7, for example?

  1. its fine i take study hall and I'm at the top of my graduating class..of course take honors, ap ,and ib ..sometimes if you can take a half year class that's accelerated and you get a full credit so do that twice and its 8credits anyway ..i do that with math and science classes good luck:)

  2. I have always taken a study hall, had a 4.35 GPA and did very well on all of my standardized tests. I had a job outside of school so the study hall really helped me get all of my schoolwork done.

I definitely do not think it hinders you from getting into a great college because I applied to and was accepted into many great colleges.  Good luck with everything ahead of you.

  3. The reason why people say that is, instead of taking study hall (a waste of time) you could be taking another course that will be weighted in your GPA. This will increase your GPA, which will increasing your class ranking. Try taking an AP or honors course instead of study hall. It does look better if someone takes 8 classes instead of 7, because that will boost your GPA. You get one shot to show colleges what your all about, don't waste it in study hall.
