I got the information in http://www.abroadeducation.com.np/ that -Government of Cyprus allows international students to work up to 20 hours per week and full time during vacations. It will start from January 2008. Can anyone know is it true?

  1. If you are from Europe, then you are allowed to work part-time in Cyprus, although there are not very many jobs available, and the pay is poor.  I believe fees for the universities are about five thousand euros per semester for international students, and typical student pay is about twenty euros a day at most.  You can see that even if you're allowed to work, it would only just about cover basic food costs.

If you are not European, it is currently illegal for you to work in Cyprus on a student visa.  Many students come here thinking they can work, from Asia or Africa, and have to go home after a few months as they can't possibly afford  to live here.  There are many more who are very hungry, relying on food from churches just to survive.

The government keep saying they are going to change the laws, but it hasn't happened yet.  If it does happen, there will still be huge competition for the few jobs available for students - mostly cleaning, or other manual work.  Unless you are fluent in Greek, it's almost impossible to find a reasonable job in Cyprus.
