Question:

Study abroad programs for summer?

im 13 right now and i checked google if i could go study abroad during the summer to south korea and japan (2 different summers). are there any good programs you know where i could go to these countries? dont look at things like the costs and im fine with hosts, but i dont want to go for things like art, marine biology, etc. i want to go for studying the culture and language. i also noticed that most are either for 14-18, but what programs accept 13 year olds? and are there any that last more than 6 weeks, or would i have to sign up for 2 semesters? does the program have other requirements? like educational or medical? and are there tests? and im also wondering if i could be in school even for a little bit there since they start summer vacation over a month later than us.

i would prefer if your answers are from experiance or if you've really looked for it instead of telling me a good program to get to spain, but please help me find a good program and learn more about this :)

  1. Hmmmmmmmm I guess you could teach hmmmm I do not know!!Yeah maybe you could teach Spanish!

  2. For a true exchange program, you need to be between 15 and 18 1/2. There are good reasons for this, and one is maturity. It really doesn't matter how mature you SEEM to be on Y!A, the fact of the matter is, at 13 you are too young to do a student exchange. To be honest, I've been hosting for 13 years now and I won't accept a student under 16!

The best thing to do is wait until you are a sophomore or junior in high school and take an academic year exchange. It will be of much more value to you.

  3. here is a good one for speaking spanish:  http://nicaraguastudyabroad.org/

  4. try teenagersabroad.com. I went to Barcelona with them last year and I had a blast! I think they have a program in Japan and I think  it doesn' t matter your age as long you seem mature enough to handle it and by your lenghthly explaination, it seems that you are. If you want to go to Spain you can also look at Enforex, I' m going with them this year to Marbella Spain.

    Hope this helps!
