a light has dawned

See Isa 8:22.... Then they will look toward the earth and see only distress and darkness and fearful gloom, and they will be thrust into utter darkness.

See Also Isa 9:1&2.....1 Nevertheless, there will be no more gloom for those who were in distress. In the past he humbled the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, but in the future he will honor Galilee of the Gentiles, by the way of the sea, along the Jordan-

2 The people walking in darkness

to guide our feet into the path of peace."

Isa 60:1...."Arise, shine, for your light has come,

What is the "great light", was it Jesus or what Jesus had to teach or something else ?

Luke 2:32....a light for revelation to the Gentiles and for glory to your people Israel." Why is it a light for the Gentiles & Israel ?

Have i missed any important points ?

  4. Jesus began removing the veil of darkness from mankind shortly after his baptism. Matthew 4:12-16 tells us that this fulfilled Isaiah 9:1, 2, which spoke about the “great light” that would begin to shine on people walking in spiritual darkness. Matthew 4:17 says: “From that time on Jesus commenced preaching and saying: ‘Repent, you people, for the kingdom of the heavens has drawn near.’” By preaching about the good news of God’s Kingdom, Jesus enlightened people about God’s purposes. He “shed light upon life and incorruption through the good news.”—2 Timothy 1:10.

Jesus faithfully reflected God’s light. He said: “I have come as a light into the world, in order that everyone putting faith in me may not remain in the darkness. . . . I have not spoken out of my own impulse, but the Father himself who sent me has given me a commandment as to what to tell and what to speak. Also, I know that his commandment means everlasting life.”—John 12:44-50.

  5. Light is one of the central themes in the Bible.

Light is very important in our lives.

With out light we could not exist.

So it is that Jesus declared twice

    John 8:12

Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

    and

    John 9:4-5

I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.

As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.

The verses you quote from Scriptures illustrate the necessity for light in our lives so that we might live.

Jesus claims that he is this light and that we should follow the example he has given us.

We in turn must become a reflection of that light thereby showing the effect the “Good New of the Gospel message” has had in our lives.

To do this we have to accept Jesus as our saviour and be baptised (Total immersion).

    Matthew 5:14-16

Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

We will then follow the instruction

    Mark 16:15-16

    And he said unto them,

“Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.”
