Matthew 4:3.....The tempter came to him and said, "If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread."

The tempter is also mentioned at 1 Th 3:5....For this reason, when I could stand it no longer, I sent Timothy to find out about your faith. I was afraid that in some way the tempter might have tempted you and our efforts might have been useless.

If you are the Son of God see also Matt:27:40....and saying, "You who are going to destroy the temple and build it in three days, save yourself! Come down from the cross, if you are the Son of God!"

Also Luke 4:3.....The devil said to him, "If you are the Son of God, tell this stone to become bread."

Is Satan acknowledging Jesus has the power to change the stones into bread or making fun of Jesus ?

Why did Satan say...if you are the son of God ?

Is there & important link between Matt 4:3 & 1 Thessalonians 3:5 ?

Can you add any relevant Scriptures or comments ?

  1. satan knows Jesus and he wanted to tempt Jesus.Jesus doesn't do miracles for no real reason. The religious leaders wanted Jesus to come down from the cross (they asked just mocking Him).

  2. He was mocking him because Satan does not know God's exact plans. He only knows God hates him. Satan was not sure at all. Jesus was not about to go against God's will.

There is really not link, except for the temptation part. Jesus was tempted to go against God's will. The Tempter is Satan.

  3. Buy Harry Potter it is simply better.

  4. Satan was playing a simple game of  "dare" with Jesus - nothing more
