Matthew 4:4.....Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God

see Deuteronomy 8:3....He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your fathers had known, to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the LORD.

Luke 4:4...Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Man does not live on bread alone.

John 4:34...."My food," said Jesus, "is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work.

This the reply of Jesus after Satan told him to turn stones into bread.

I like the way John 4:34 words it.

Comment

1.Jas 1:14; but our Lord Jesus had no corrupt nature, therefore he was tempted only by the devil. In the temptation of Christ it appears that our enemy is subtle, spiteful, and very daring; but he can be resisted. It is a comfort to us that Christ suffered, being tempted; for thus it appears that our temptations, if not yielded to, are not sins, they are afflictions only

2.Christ was succoured after the temptation, for his encouragement to go on in his undertaking, and for our encouragement to trust in him; for as he knew, by experience, what it was to suffer, being tempted, so he knew what it was to be succoured, being tempted; therefore we may expect, not only that he will feel for his tempted people, but that he will come to them with seasonable relief.

Is De 8:3 prophetic ?

What do you think of the comments , are they right or wrong & why ?

Can you add relevent scriptures or comments ?

Have i missed any important points ?

An added scripture to think about is Romans 15:4

For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through endurance and the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.

  1. Matthew 4:10

Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

    AMEN!    GOD BLESS!     SHALOM!

  2. Matthew 4:4.....Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.

Both parts of the verse refers to nourshment.

Is there anywhere in the Bible where Jesus says eternal life will be given to those who eat His Bread?

By receiving the Eucharist at Mass I am enabled to view every human being to be of infinite value. If you want to go to church and eat bread made from stones, well, I guess that is between you and God, isn't it?

  3. Paul was an excellent speaker.

But he taught that to speak with enticing words would vail the power of God. If it is because of the preaching that people desire to be better than they will never get anywhere near Jesus.

Belief in Jesus is a miracle produced only by the efficacy of Redemption.

So the fasting of the preacher is not from food but rather from eloquence, from impressiveness and exquisite diction.

    1st Cor 1-5

1 And when i came to you, brethren, I did not come with superiority of speech or of wisdom, proclaiming to you the testimony of God.

2 For I determined to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ, and Him crucified.

3 and I was with you in weakness and in fear and in much trebling.

4 and my message and my preaching were not in persuasive words of wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power.

5 that your faith should rest on the wisdom of men, but on the power of God.

You see anything that flatters the preacher in his preaching will make him a traitor to Jesus.

Present the power of His Redemption by doing it's work.
