Matthew 4:9....."All this I will give you," he said, "if you will bow down and worship me."

See Du 11:16.... Be careful, or you will be enticed to turn away and worship other gods and bow down to them.

also 1 Cor 10:20&21.....20 No, but the sacrifices of pagans are offered to demons, not to God, and I do not want you to be participants with demons. 21 You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons too; you cannot have a part in both the Lord's table and the table of demons

Comment......All these things will I give thee. All disguise is laid aside. Satan claims to be the Prince of the world and the disposer of human kingdoms.

Can you tie 1 Cor 10:20&21 into Matt 4:9 ?

Is the comment right or wrong , why ?

Is Satan offering what is not his to offer ?

Have i miss any important points ?

Can you add any relevant scriptures or comments ?

  1. Hopefully, I understand your question.   2 Corin 4:4 states that satan is the ruler of the world.  So, yes, he had the kingdoms to give.  However, Jesus is king of God's kingdom-Daniel 2:44  This is a government.  not an earthly government, or peoples like Satan was referring to owning

  2. The meaning I see is explained by our Lord when He also said that a man cannot serve two masters.  He must be loyal to one or the other.  He said also, "you are either with Me or against Me"  A man cannot serve the worldly kingdom of the devil and the kingdom of heaven at the same time

  3. Once again the Devil was trying to usurp God.

Matthew 4:8  Again, the devil took Him up on an exceedingly high mountain, and showed Him all the kingdoms of the world and their glory.  9  And he said to Him, "All these things I will give You if You will fall down and worship me."

Matthew 6:13  And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one. For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

  4. Satan is the god of this world b/c of Adam and Eve sin.

    GOD BLESS

  5. First in Matt. 4:9  The scene is when Jesus is being tempted by Satan.  He is offering him wealth, power, and riches.  The devil as he always does, mixes truth with lies to try to convince Jesus to turn away from God and to seek for power and riches of this world and to serve him, Satan.

How funny, since Satan did not have the authority nor the power to give these things to Jesus Christ, nor do I believe he would have given them to him if he could have.

Jesus refuses and his reply is important:  Matt. 4:10  Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

Here, the Savior teaches that one should reject seeking for only the riches of the world and power and to worship God and serve only him.

About the part that the devil is the ruler of this earth. I believe that when Satan was cast out of God's presence he was allowed for a time to run a muck in the world until the Millennium at least.  He is allowed to tempt and plaugue us and to bring us into his captivity with him as our ruler.  When he succeeds he gains more power and in a way is the ruler over many people because he rules thier hearts and they are his slaves and servants.

God allows this to occur because of the gift of free agency that he has allowed every person to have.  Our ability to choose for ourselves is a sacred right.  It was given to us because in the long run the ability to choose good over evil will be for our best good.  It was necessary even for Jesus to be tempted.  Of course he passed the test, and fulfilled his mission he was sent to do, but it was important for him to be tested as it is for us.

Matthew 6:24  No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

This is another scripture that has similar meanings to the Deut. and Corrinth. scriptures you mentioned.

Mammon in this case meaning the world.  I believe this is a true statement.  We cannot serve both God and persue worldly or unrightous things.  So many people are so focused on making money and just living from day to day that they fill up all their time with it.  They have no time to think of spiritual things, and to try to serve their God.

Their are some really interesting scriptures that give a greater understanding about what Satan's role is in God's plan for our happiness. They are scriptures found in Pearl of Great Price:  Moses 1: 16-22, Moses 4:3, Moses 6:49, and the Book of Mormon 3 Nephi 6:15-16.  I realize that not everyone will accept these as valid scriptures, but they are interesting and give greater insight into this subject even if you do not believe in them.  You can easily look these up by going to lds.org then click on gospel library, then the scriptures.

When the scriptures come up just click on the Pearl of Great Price or the Book of Mormon and the proper verses.  They will immediately come up.  No personal information is asked of the person looking up this site.  You can easily look up scriptures with no obligation whatsoever.  If you want more insight, go and look these references up.

    Hope this answers your question.

  6. You need to answer these question.

Who is the Lord of the earth?

    Who owns the earth?

If you can answer them two questions you will answer the question , Is Satan offering what is not his to offer ?

If you would like help let me know but i think you can work it out yourself .

Other wise i think again you have covered it well .

  7. Because right now the earth is satan's kingdom, so he can offer you worldly possions, Satan is the god of the earth but only until satan is bound in h**l for 1000 yrs. Rev. Chapter 20, & then Until this earth is redeemed back to God, which you will see in Rev. 22:3&14
