Study of the sermon on the mount. Matthew 5:8, can you help with any relevant scripture or comment ?

Matthew 5:8....Blessed are the pure in heart,

for they will see God.

See Ps 24:4.... He who has clean hands and a pure heart,

who does not lift up his soul to an idol

or swear by what is false.

Ps 73:1....Surely God is good to Israel,

to those who are pure in heart.

Prov 22:11....He who loves a pure heart and whose speech is gracious

will have the king for his friend.

Titus 1:15.....15To the pure, all things are pure, but to those who are corrupted and do not believe, nothing is pure. In fact, both their minds and consciences are corrupted.

1 John 3:2....Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when he appears,we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.

In Matthew 5:8 Notice, Jesus puts His emphasis upon the heart

Compare with Philippians 3:19....Their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach, and their glory is in their shame. Their mind is on earthly things.

“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God” (Matthew 5:8). That’s it! That’s the goal of the Christian life! That’s what we are living for – that we may live our life in such a way that we see God. If we see God, that will open up the treasure trove of all the blessings, not only for eternity, but also for life here and now. And the key to open that treasure trove is a pure heart!

It's only a pure heart that can see God, As God is to be seen in the Poor, the down trodden the orphan and widow,He will not be seen but passed by, by the proud of heart, the haughty will never see, Humility of heart is to see the thirsty and give them a drink.

God seeks a pure heart because you become like him, you become what he wanted! One in Christ.

Read the Saints and you can see it is possible to see Jesus in his Glory in this life,As he reveals himself as he is to the truly Pure.

It seems like you've covered it pretty thoroughly, but here are my thoughts:

18 And the Lord called his people Zion, because they were of one heart and one mind, and dwelt in righteousness; and there was no poor among them.

I also especially love Titus 1:15.  It is an exercise in non-judgment, which contributes significantly to purity of heart.

1 John 3, points out that to purify ourselves, we need to obey God's laws, and to love one another.  Prayer is also very helpful for the same, especially when the prayer is asking for mercy, because of faith in Christ:

SO! To become pure in heart:

1. Desire and strive to obey God's laws (which are the laws of Light).

2. Love one another (and love God)... giving freely of your substance.

3. Pray for God's help/grace/forgiveness, & freely forgive other people.

The only way that we can have a pure heart is to accept Jesus as Lord and Savior. In that way we are dressed in the righteousness of Christ.

Jer. 17:9,10 tells us that we cannot trust our own heart, nor the motives that proceed from it. Which is why it is necessary for us to receive our help, instruction, and promptings from the Holy Spirit.
