Studyin in america?

Im British and wanting to study medicine at university in america. How do I go about doing it, because i cant just go and stay there can I? Do I need some sort of visa or do i have to be an American Citizen to stay there. I would just stay in the universitys Halls.

  1. Yes you will need a visa, the type is classed as an F1. This is a student visa.

    How do go about applying, well that is simple, visit the websites for the universities you are interested in attended and look at their admission for international students section and there you will find out all of the information and documentation you require to apply to that university as an international student.

    Once you have applied and been accepted you will be issued with an I-20 and with this you pay the SEVIS fee (done online) and then schedule and F1 visa interview at the U.S. Embassy in London.

    If your interview is successful, they will retain your passport and that will be delivered back to you within 3-5 days with the F1 visa affixed inside. Then you are free to enter the U.S. no earlier than 30 days from the report date stated on your I-20.


  2. Yeah i think you definitely need that Visa to like stay anywhere, and a passport ofcourse.
