Is it possible to major in ...lets say english or something else ...and take theatre as an elective?

And, i don't know whether to study theatre as a major in college or study professional theatre after college and have a different major to fall back on.

  1. I'm seeing quite a few questions related to school and a young persons dreams lately. I have to say, what possible harm can any education do, no matter your choice of a path to follow.

I have no clue where you are located, but even decent community colleges offer "CRAFT" courses, programs, degrees.

I guess in some measure it depends on your goal. Being in the top 10 screen actresses? Being a Theater Diva? Actually learning the craft and trade, to gain a larger understanding of what it takes to make that multi million dollar star look, act, sound, good???

In a recent answer, I also suggested to the one asking the question,,,might you assume that "Actors" are uneducated, in other areas?

If you still have doubts maybe I should send you a book I wrote long ago,,,targeted at dreamy wanna be's, in any ARTS genre. "101 ways to prepare and enjoy peanut butter."

In some measure it depends on what you expect, want, can endure, tolerate, and eventually accept.

This too from other answers. The MEDIAN compensation for an Actor in the USA,,,Statistically, in 2008 is just under $48 K. Obviously on one hand you can count those who make way more, and those who don't, can fill a metro phone book.

Anyone with any passion for the arts, better not be in it for the money, anyway, but then even a DOCTOR in English is underpaid.

Do what you want, but NEVER stop learning, no matter at what.
