Studying abroad, but not in Europe?

Question

I know that I want to study abroad sometime during my college career. My major is News/Editorial Journalism and I am interested in Folk Studies, Environmental Studies, or Sociology as a minor. I don't think I want to study abroad in Europe because I want to experience something completely different from what I'm used to. I'm thinking Africa or Asia. The only language I know other than English, however, is German. Any recommendations or insights?
