Hi, I want to study abroad in Japan, particularly Tokyo, any ideas? I've checked with my university and they do not have one set up to travel to Tokyo. What are good things to experience while in Japan? Should I opt for home-stay or stay in a dorm?

  1. It all depends what kind of experience you want. You could have the awesome Tokyo city experience and stay in a dorm and go out with friends clubbing, drinking or wandering the city at night to Shinjuku, Odaiba, Shibuya (I would avoid Roppongi). Or if you want a more cultural experience I would suggest a home stay, but a lot of times homestays tend to be a hit-or-miss experience. Some people find great families, other have a harder time adjusting.

All through the year there are all kind of festivals in Tokyo and areas around Tokyo. Either way Tokyo is a great place to visit and live for a while.

I studied in Waseda University in Tokyo for a year and it was a great experience.

If you have any more particular questions, please ask.

  2. You can try to visit this website which I just came across, there are a lot of information on Study Abroad, hopefully may help you:
