Studying abroad is generally good, although it's not for everyone. There are a lot of different programs available, so it depends what would interest you or suit you. Some programs have more immersion in the culture and language than others while some programs stick you with a lot of fellow Americans (that is, if you are also American) which makes it harder to learn a language or talk to the locals but provides a higher degree of comfort and familiarity. I think it can definitely be a positive experience if you're prepared to learn, make mistakes and cope with new, challenging situations. Practicing common sense, being safe, patient with language barriers and open to the culture will also help things. If you don't adapt well to new situations studying abroad might be a more difficult experience.
