I have a Bachelor of Social Work honour degree, and Master of Social Science(mental Health) in the university of Hong Kong. Now, i would like to further my study in the above 2 subjects. However, i don't have psychology bachelor degree. What course should I take first. because of the expensive school fee, can i have a faster way to do the prerequisite course?

  1. I looked at a lot of clinical psychology, educational psychology, and child psychology programs when I was applying to graduate school.  I don't think any program I looked at reqired a degree in psychology, although most wanted people with a strong background in psychology.   I would recommend taking intro to psychology, developmental psychology, abnormal psychology, research design and statistics before trying to enter and get through a graduate program in child or clinical psychology.  Of course, the more lower level psychology classes that you take, the easier the graduate work will be for you.

  2. While most psychology programs will look more heavily at applicants with a BA in psych, it is usually not a prerequisite.  You should have met the prerequisite through you BA and MA in terms of courses (usually developing a core understanding of psychology, research).  The school will list in its application process the actual prerequisites.  DA

  3. I am currently doing a masters in educational psy course. although i am from a psy undergrad course, some of my classmates dont have a psy bach degree. i believe that at the post grad level, they will require u to have a RELEVANT bach degree (not neccessarily psy) and RELEVANT working experience will be an advantage. your bach and master are very relevant subjects so there shld be no worries.

    :) good luck!
