I am a high school junior(11th grade) studying in the United States. I am currently on a dependent visa(H4). My visa is expiring in December 2008. Can I study in the US on a student visa? How much would it cost?

Can anyone give me some good websites where I can find useful information?

Any info. would be really helpful! Thanks!

  1. If you are in the U.S. and a dependent H4 visa then will the holder of the H1 visa be renewing theirs? If so you are able to attend school on an H4 visa, as long as it remains valid.

If they are not renewing the H1 then yes you can adjust you status to that of an F1 (student) and attend high school, however you are limited to one-year of high school on an F1.

If this is what you want to do then you need to start applying to high schools as an international student, if accepted they issue you an I-20 and with this I-20 you need to pay the SEVIS fee, file form I-539 along with the I-20, proof of finanacial support and receipt that you have paid your tuition in full.
