I want to study medicine at oxford. i have all the grades, i meet requirements, and all is looking good, but what if i dont get in? I want to study somewhere good. would i be able to get into harvard? (i know it sounds far-fetched) but people have managed it before, being rejected from oxford and being able to go elsewhere

would I be able to, and how would I approach it?

thanks.

  1. Hello!  I am a medical student (at a very reputable medical school), and you are asking the wrong people - the only people who can tell you straight are the people in Admissions in the University.

If you are good enough then apply, but make sure that you not only meet the entry requirements, but exceed them.  Entry requirements are the bare minimum to get in.

About your grades.  Well done on achieving them, but many students have top grades - especially for medicine.  I gained 4 A's at A-levels and had my fair of rejections because there are so many candidates.

I'm sure you know all of this, just giving a reminder that nothing is guaranteed.  From what I've heard from my colleagues, it is just as hard to get into Harvard as it is for Ox bridge.  So if you get unlucky then it's worth a shot to apply to Harvard.  However it is MUCH more expensive to study in America.  Some of my friends are foreign students in the UK and they pay £20,000ish a year.  In America it is meant to be double this amount - and if you're going to Harvard, it may be even more.  They have a very different payment system in the US.

Whatever happens, I wish you good luck.  It's a d**n hard course! :p

  2. Studying medicine in UK or the USA is a very expensive or quality education at an affordable cost you could always consider Russia

  3. one always wants several choices ... don't hang your hat on just one... I would apply to several of them,  all at once,  then or those that accept you, choose the one that suits you best
