  1. stay with kickboxing and add Aikido/ Hapkido, which is a good hand to hand defensive art

  2. There is nothing wrong with cross training.

Taekwondo is also a form of kickboxing.

For maximum benefit I would suggest a grappling martial art.

  3. A fair few people are against cross-training because of conflicting styles and that it means your not completely focused on the arts you do. But the vast majority support it. Other than MMA no martial art incorporates every aspect of self defence, which is the common reason for cross training. I train BJJ which means I have an advantage in ground fighting, but if for example, I was to fight a wrestler who could stop my takedowns i would have problems which is why im training muay thai next year as well. Training two arts in my opinion is far from a bad idea. its a good one.

  4. I took Taekwondo and moved to Systema, when i went to the Russian style they told me to forget everything i learned in Taekkwondo. I had the habit of going into a stance and blocking "systema doesnt block" so i would say it may not be a good idea, i dont know too much about kick boxing but i had to kick all the stuff i learned to use systema. Only way to know for sure is to try it i guess

  5. How much does it all cost?

  6. Be good in one sport is better then be OK in many..

It also depend on what you are into, the combat, the blood or the sport.

Studying two martial art at the same time is not a good idea. Your master, coach, trainer or whoever train you, will feel no respect. And you you are to train in a hardcore gym, I think you get a kick in.....

But there are many gym who are only interested in you money.

Training martial art is not only blood and sweat, you must remember.

You need to understand the history of the art and reasons for the moment.  If you are finish with Kick boxing and maybe try TKD but not together please. You can upset many.

  7. my boyfriend does 3 .....he thinks each one is an advantage if you want to start a new one because you will always need to use some of the skills

  8. Absolutely.

Bruce Lee's JKD tried to apply the most effective moves of every martial art in the world into his method.

(remember the 60-sec challenge after he had perfected JKD?)

But yes, it actually improves your balance and methods.

If you're doing kickboxing look into combining that technique with Judo or Brazilian Jiujitsu.

Basically, if you find a weakpoint in your method, you can find another method to refine your technique.

    Good Luck

  9. They have there own ideals. My daughter has done TaeKwonDo for 5 years.  She is 10 1//2 years old.  Her school teaches 'self defence'!  They grade up to different belts and spar without contact. 'National TaeKwonDo'.Instructors are all Black + belts,  but if you link martial arts with 'fighting'! there is other schools out there.

  10. Hi Jason!

    Asolutely!!

As long as you're cultivating, as long your growing and you feel an increase in your martial art skills...then go to as many as you feel you want to.  There's no right or wrong.  There maybe some places that feel a moral obligation to be loyal, but that can be dangerous to your own growth so think about what's best for you and improving yourself in a positive approach!

  11. yeah its a very good thing actually.

bruce lee really did start it all off you could class him as one of the first MMA martial artists.

it all depends on what your looking for in cross training. if you want good kicks and punches kickboxing, TWD and maybe boxing would be your optimal mix. if your looking for all round defence kickboxing, TWD and ju-jitsu would be a good idea. if you were to drop your kickboxing and take up ju-jitsu and TWD you would have good power in kicks and punches and a solid base for some groundwork and holds as well.

all the best, hope you achieve what your looking for.
