  1. Depending how bad your drawers are, here are some suggestions you may have tried or would like to try. This also depends on how old your dresser is, you may even like to wash the drawers out with one of the below.

      1) Baking Soda- Generously sprinkle in corners and crevices and around drawer. Close up for 2-3 days. Vacuum thoroughly, and leave a container of baking soda in drawers.

      2) 10% Bleach- (water) solution (mold and mildew)

      3) White vinegar- Mist with 1 part white vinegar to 3 parts water

      4) Murphy's Oil Soap- wipe inside and out to rid odors

      5) Deodorant Soap- Place in drawer, works in masking odors

      6) Cedar chips- Works in masking musky odors

      7) Kitty Litter- Known to absorb odors (may or may not work)

      8) Damp-Rid- has a variety of products that absorb or elimate odors

      9) Apples- Some people say sliced apples left to dry in a container inside drawer will remove any smells.

    10) Activated Charcoal- I've heard nothing but good things about this

          A) Inno Fresh Odor Eliminator

          B) Fridge It Cubes

          C) Fresh Auto Odor Absorber

Stores for A, B, and C vary...below is a website for manufacturer, they may be able to tell you where you can purchase items...C) is available in most Auto stores...but make sure what auto store is in your area.

  2. Place dryer sheets in the drawers.Or get some cedar balls.

  3. Take everything out the drawers. Remove any paper or vinyl liners that may be in the bottom of the drawers. Clean the inside of the drawers with a damp rag. Allow the drawers to dry completely.

I have lined old drawers with washable wallpaper and had good luck eliminating most of that "old" smell. You can also use a small sachet or just make sure you use a very fragrant liquid fabric softener on the clothes that are going in the dresser. Unfortunately, I don't know of any way to completely rid an older piece of furniture of the "old" smell, but lining the drawers with wallpaper does help a lot.

  4. my favorite thing to do is to cut two squares of 4"x4" fabric any kind any color (this makes it nice because you can match it to your bedroom decor) sew it right sides together on three sides then turn it right side out, fill it with your favorite potpourri. then sew the open side closed with a whip stitch, place them in the drawers and the clothes  will smell like your favorite potpourri. You can amke these with a ribbon sewn on them to hang in the closet for the same reason. NOTE: you can also buy these at some department and clothing stores but I prefer to make my own, you have more choices over scent and colors, and prints that way, and it is cheaper because you can use any leftover potpourri around the house.
