Stupid Question Alert! Do you think renting appliances and furniture from those rent to own places makes sense

i think it is totally stupid because if you are buying this as a permanant rental then you might as well buy it because you will pay more in rent than you would if you just bought it

and if something happens to it then you have to pay for that to i think

Almost never.

The simple reason is cost. As well as the liability you run if anything should happen to them.

With the availability of very inexpensive used furniture and appliances, there is no reason to rent them.

I don't think this is a stupid question.  As to the question, you really have to put a pencil to it.  From my experience all rental appliances and furniture actually cost you a whole lot more than if you just bought them outright - even if paying relatively high interest rate.  These furniture rental places prey on low-income, poorly educated people.  If what these people pay in rent was thought of as interest, these places would be criminally liable and prosecuted for violating local, state or federal interest rate laws.

on paper it doesn't make sence but for the people that can not afford the price out right its a way for them to have something nice.
