  1. first off, canned corn is way over processed, salty, and just taste bland. by she is right.. canned corn is completely cooked, and only warming is necessary.

Frozen corn...Has been blanched, lightly cooked, and frozen.  I put mine in the microwave for about 7 minutes with about 1 tbsp butter.

Fresh corn..... Needs to be cooked.  About 10 minutes in boiling water with a pinch of salt.  you will know when it is done. poke a fork in it and when the fork goes in the kernal without getting stuck, it is done.  May take 20 - 30 minutes to totally cook depending on how fresh the corn is.

  2. It is far nicer cooked with dollops of butter.

  3. you can eat corn right when you pick it

  4. you dont need to cook any corn, even fresh period. you should cook it, but there is no need too. for canned and frozen you should just warm it up.

  5. Cook fresh corn to prevent getting sick.  Canned and frozen corn are precooked so all you have to do is warm them up.  I would imagine that uncooked fresh corn would taste pretty nasty.

  6. I don't think that fresh corn on the cob will make you sick but it's not to good. It's just starchy and not so great. The cooking helps the sugars come out in the kernals and make it juicy, sweet and delicious.

Have your friend try cooked verses uncooked and see if she changes her mind. **Make the cooked one extra good with garlic and parlsey butter just a dash of salt..mmmmmmmm. I also like 50/50 mix of mayo and butter on my corn on the cob. It's like creamed corn on the cob.

Also don't boil the corn for 20-30 min that is just ruining good corn. I also like to eat my canned corn cold strait from the can....mmmmmmm soooo good.

I just looked it up. Fresh corn on the cob will NOT make you sick!

  7. Please cook it!  Corn needs to boil for at least 10 minutes, but I prefer it longer.  Canned and frozen just need to be prepared according to container directions.

  8. you dont have to cook it but you can get sick if you dont

  9. Most packages will say that they are precooked or not. If they are canned  or frozen, they are most likely to be cooked. If you want really crunchy fresh corn, get it in the husk but be careful, too much fresh corn can make you go to the bathroom a lot.

  10. No stupid questions, learning is a lifetime process.  Corn in the can is cooked, ready to eat as most canned vegetables are.  Frozen corn has been blanched before it was frozen which means it was cooked a short time to stop the enzymatic process and to retain fresh flavor.  It can be steamed, boiled or grilled.  Fresh, shucked corn can be eaten uncooked as long as it has been  washed to remove pesticides, but it is better steamed, boiled or grilled .

  11. Yes you do need to cook fresh corn, whether you remove the husk or not. Remove the husk and boil for approx. 10 mins. Leave the husk on and grill them on the bbq for approx 10-15 mins. Can and frozen only have to be heated before serving.
