http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Daniel-Sturridge-c10076 has gone on to thank Stuart Pearce for being patient with his fitness, as it allowed him to be a part of the Great Britain team, for the upcoming Olympics.
The striker was a major doubt for the upcoming tournament, as he suffered from an injury, that seemed to be intent on keeping him out of action for the coming weeks.
However, Pearce felt that the striker should try and prove that he was fit enough to play for the team and named him as part of his squad for a friendly against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Brazil-c2858.
Despite the team losing by two goals to nil to Brazil, Sturridge managed to play forty five minutes in the game.
This meant that the forward could now be a part of the team in the upcoming competition, since he managed to recover well ahead of time.
The twenty two year old went on to thank Stuart Pearce for having faith in him and believing that he could end up making the team if he just kept going.
The Blue young attacker is quoted to have said: "I'm very happy. It's been a long road for me to get back and I've had to go through a lot of stuff over these last couple of weeks.”
"Thanks to the manager for being patient and waiting for me to get fit and thanks to the Chelsea doctor for being there for me when I was going through everything.”
"It's been difficult because for two weeks I wasn't doing anything, so to get 45 minutes under my belt was crucial and I'm happy."
With Sturridge playing for the team up front, they have an attacker who can play out wide, or as a target man up front.
His pace and quick footwork are often causing problems to opposing defender and his keen eye for goal can help the team quite a bit.
Should the forward be played in a set up where he could be fed long balls and given space to run at defenders, he could go on and prove to be one of the most lethal players at the tournament.
