Question:

Stuttering saying my own name?

Next week I start my preseason for soccer and then school starts soon after and I'm going to have to say my name and meet new teachers and coaches.. I have such a hard time saying my name. It begins with a "K" so it's hard to pronounce for me. This is making me really frantic and worried and I'm feeling really sad going into the new school year because (first of all) it makes it look like I don't know my name, but (second of all) once they see I DO stutter, I think they will look at me differently, even if its subconscious. Can someone please offer any tips on how to say your name easily if you stutter?

  1. i too have this same problem, pretty bad too. I'm 15 years old. I am great at controlling my stuttering around people my age but always seem to have a lot of difficulty saying personal info about my self to adults like my football coach and my teachers. I found that spelling out my name before i say it helps a lot of the time so i tend to do that. One time i was sent to the nurse's office because they thought i forgot my name. It was one of the worst days of my life. From that day on when im stuck around an adult I tell the person i have a stutter and they alwasys seem to be very understanding. I wish you the best of luck and totally understand what your going through. Don't sweat it!
