Stuttgart 1-2 Eintracht Frankfurt – Full time Analysis (Part 2)
In the second half of the game, Traesch disappointed bitterly as he flunked at scoring in a clean volley that could have only landed the ball between the posts.
Nonetheless, Frankfurt initiated their reign of dominance. That of course led to their second goal after Patrick Ochs received a number of opportunities to score. Unluckily for him, all his tries were blocked or saved as the entire Stuttgart team swarmed
in the box to suppress another goal.
Chris performed brilliantly and was clever enough to head one in from an impressive corner. The goal crushed Stuttgart as they looked if they had already accepted defeated.
Still minutes from the final whistle, they suddenly realized that they were actually just a goal down to level things up. Consequently, they brought on the assault. However, the onslaught was too little too late. Stuttgart tried their best and were only
successful in creating a couple of close chances.
Moments before the end, Ciprian Marica came up with a moment of brilliance and eventually got rewarded when he received an open chance to score just 12 yards from the goal line. Boos were emanated after the try made by Marica and his shabby finish frustrated
the home fans.
Pogrebnyak and Arthur Boka also had their moments around that time. Both also played a major role in shaking off the dust from the woodwork as they had plenty of chances to rattle it.
With about 6 minutes left on the clock, skipper Matthieu Delpierre was slapped with a red card after he made a reckless challenge on Ochs.
Just seconds after that, Pogrebnyak and Cacau took it upon themselves to take whatever was left of the match. The duo scored a goal each, just moments apart. But unfortunately, both of them were ruled out to be offside.
The decision on the last goal however proved to be an infamous one as everyone reckoned it to have been official. In the end, Frankfurt had managed well enough to hold onto their 3 points from the match.
In the aftermath of this match, Stuttgart now occupies the last place in the German League Bundesliga with 3 points on the table. On the other hand, Frankfurt have climbed up the ladder to the 10th place. They now have 9 points from 7 matches, having
won 3 matches and lost 4.
