Stuttgart unwilling to sell Bernd Leno permanently to Bayer Leverkusen – Bundesliga News
Having already made strides in his short stay at BayArena, Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Bernd Leno has reinstated desire to stay at the club. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/VfB-Stuttgart-c40879, who own the player rights, are unwilling to make this deal permanent despite Bayer’s eagerness to
pay up to 5 million Euros.
Leno has been in terrific form this season for the Werkself after joining them on loan from Stuttgart this summer. The player has been standing in place of first choice keeper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fabian-Giefer-c13104 ever since.
Giefer suffered a concussion during the opening game of this season against FC Koln and was sidelined for up to three months.
As a result, Leno was brought to BayArena until December, after which he’ll be moving back to his parent club, according to the contract details.
However, Leverkusen have expressed interest in Leno’s permanent stay and are expected to come up with an official bid in a week’s time.
The player is highly likely to overtake Giefer and Rene Adler’s position in goal, should Stuttgart agree to sell him on permanent basis.
While talking to Bild, the teenage shot-stopper further enthused, "My feelings clearly are with Bayer 04, because the club have really helped me. I feel comfortable here and have confidence playing in Leverkusen."
Stuttgart president Gerd Mauser, on the other hand, has clearly stated his desire of not selling the goalie to the BayArena outfit.
Mauser termed Leno as the ‘crown jewel’ who is certainly not worth a mere 5 million Euros. The president clearly told Bayer officials to double their bid in order to keep the player past December.
He concluded by saying, "Leno is a crown jewel. He embodies the concept of a young and hungry player. We will not sell him. "To even think about it, a spectacular offer would have to come."
Leno had no problems settling down amongst the new teammates and is already looking forward to an extended stay at BayArena.
The goalkeeper also desired to go further in the Champions League and has surprised majority of the outfits with his quick reflexes.
Now, it remains to be seen whether Bayer manager to come up with the right offer to make Leno’s stay permanent.
