Stuttgart’s Erwin Staudt plays down criticism relating to board interference and corruption
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/VfB-Stuttgart-c40879 President Erwin Staudt has rubbished claims of board interference and corruption. He stated that the board has never interfered in the club’s matters and that his tenure has been free of any corruption whatsoever.
Staudt has served eight years as the club president and is set to step down before the start of the next campaign and Gerd Mauser will take over as his successor.
The President stated that the main criticism on his board over the last few years has been the interference in the club matters. He added that it has been reported numerous times that this had been the reason for the departure
of managers Armin Veh and Markus Babbel which is totally false.
The German insisted that there has not been a single instance in his reign when the board has taken a decision without the approval of the club. He claimed that the fans committee was even involved when the decision of the renovation
of the stadium was to be taken.
“If I understand correctly, the main criticism is that the board interferes in the operations. I say this in public and very clear: I do not know a single case in my eight years, where the Board would have interfered in its business
operations. Not one,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
The former IBM manager admitted that in the past eight years, there has not been a single case of corruption and there has always been a transparency check. He claimed that the fans are a very important part of the club and always
will be so there is no chance whatsoever to go against them.
“I can guarantee you, in the last eight years we have sat down with everyone who has come to us reasonable. In addition, we are an association of transparency and the participation of our fans seriously,” he concluded.
Stuttgart will kick start their new campaign against Schalke 04 at the Mercedes-Benz Arena on Saturday, August 6, in a bid to improve on the poor performances last season.
