The Russian international has claimed that he could be on his way out at the end of the season after a lack of first-team opportunities in this campaign.
Stuttgart have had a mixed season in the Bundesliga this term and are hanging on to a place in the top-half of the table. The side is sitting in eighth place with 22 points from the 17 games played and is four points behind Bayer
Leverkusen, the club that occupies the UEFA Europa League spot.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Pavel-Pogrebnyak-c29501 has been widely linked with a move away from the Mercedes-Benz-Arena after falling down the pecking order of strikers at the club. He has had a disappointing season with the Reds and has scored only once in the
entire Bundesliga campaign.
The Russian’s current contract with the club expires at the end of the season and if reports are to be believed, the club is not interested in offering him a new deal.
Pogrebnyak claimed that there have been no talks regarding a new contract with Stuttgart and admitted that he will definitely leave if the club tells him to. The player insisted that he has to play regular first-team football in
order to prepare for the European Championships later this year so he could be forced to change sides.
“From VfB no one has approached me. I conclude, therefore, also not that I look around me now. If other clubs are interested, I'll gladly listen to them. If there should be no future at VfB for me, the club no longer wants me,
then I will go. Because of course I have to play goal in the championship,” he was quoted as saying.
The former Spartak Moscow player has admitted that he would prefer to stay in the Bundesliga in the future as he considers the league one of the best in Europe.
“That's why I prefer to stay in the Bundesliga. The Bundesliga is one of the strongest leagues in the world. It is a pleasure to play in this league - the stadiums are always full, the atmosphere always great,” he concluded.
Pavel Pogrebnyak has been linked with the likes of Hamburg SV and FC Koln for a move in the summer.
