Question:

Styrofoam swim device?

Do you remember back in the day (the 1980's) when they had flotation devices for kids made of styrofoam? They had inner tube type of toys (like they use now for saving lives) and they also made some that had leg holes for small kids. We have a couple of inflatable tubes with leg holes for the kids, but they constantly get holes in them and we have to keep buying more.

Is there any place I can buy such a thing made of styrofoam? I suppose I could rig one up, but it would be nice to just buy it made.

I saw they make swim suits for little kids with foam inside the suit so that the little ones can float, but I'm looking for something that can be removed.

I found something called a swim sweater..see below..but would like this made of foam instead of being an inflatable thing. Thanks for you help!

  1. .

  2. Yes they still have them and I still use them and have 2 of them.  Aqua learn to swim 123 is one and I found another called a back bubble (which is what we called them)

my link wasn't working though.  When you look look for learn to swim, back bubble, Aqua,  or Habco

These are great inexpensive and safer than swimmies.  Swimmies are so dangerous not only do they place a swimmer in a position that is inconducive to learning to swim, they leak, and can slip off holding the child underwater.
