Su-Wei Hsieh outshines Jing Jing Lu to reach the second round – WANLIMA Women’s Open 2011
Taipei tennis pro Su-Wei Hsieh thrashed out Jing Jing Lu of China 6-0, 6-2 on Tuesday to book her place in the second round of 2011 WANLIMA International Women’s Open here in Guangzhou, China.
Entering the Women’s Tennis Association tournament as qualifier, Hsieh displayed some high quality tennis in a match that lasted for only 49 minutes on the hard courts of Guangzhou. The 25-year-old adopted a very aggressive approach
and she made the challenger run for her money with her strong base line play.
Not dropping a single game in the opening set, Hsieh looked in a hurry to end the match. And although some fight was put up by Lu in the second set, she was unable to stop her opponent from earning a well deserved straight sets
victory.
Lu, on the other hand, looked out of sorts as she struggled to get any timing on her shots what so ever. She was outclassed in the baseline rallies and she was unable to get her first serves in. Under pressure, she started to make
too many unforced errors, which allowed Hsieh to establish complete control over the situation.
Still very fresh to international scene, Lu was unable to handle the head out there, which of course led to her down fall. She will have to up her game play significantly if she wants to do well in her upcoming matches on the WTA
tour.
Looking for place in the second round of the tournament, Hsieh made a strong start to the match. Breaking her opponent at regular intervals, she secured the opening set with in first 20 minutes of the match. Losing very few points
in the set, she dominated her rival in every aspect of the game to take 1-0 set score lead.
The second set also followed a similar trend as Hsieh continued to attack using her big forehand and backhand shots. Although she suffered a break of serve once, she wrapped up the set to complete an emphatic victory.
