http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809’s ace striker, Luis Suarez expressed his hope of playing for a Spanish outfit in future, but revealed that he is glad to be a part of Anfield for now.
The Uruguayan footballer has experienced a remarkable stint at Merseyside so far. He arrived at Anfield from the Dutch side Ajax in January 2011 and has since remained the most notable performer for the Reds. He was also their leading goal scorer for the
2011/12 campaign, having bagged 17 scalps in all competitions.
Apart from his on field heroics, the 25-year old has also been involved in controversial off the field incidents. Earlier in the season, he was slapped an eight match ban by the Football Association for racially abusing Manchester United’s defender, Patrice
Evra.
However, his impressive spell with the Merseyside team has caught the eyes of a number of big European clubs, with Carlo Ancelotti’s Paris Saint Germain reported to be lining up for the player in a bid to prize him out of Liverpool in the summer.
Despite drawing interest from different clubs, the Uruguayan footballer expressed his desire of playing for a Spanish team in the future. He believed that La Liga is one of the toughest leagues in Europe alongside Premier League and the Italian league, and
that any player would fancy being a part of it.
He told the reporters, “I hope to do so in future because I believe that, alongside the English and Italian leagues, it is the best in the world.”
Even though Suarez unravelled his admiration for the Spanish competition, he indicated that he plans on serving out his lengthy contract with Liverpool and that he was mentally relaxed, despite all the rumours doing the rounds in the media about him.
Touching the subject of the Reds dismal league campaign, which saw them finish the table with a meagre tally of 52 points, the striker admitted that they had failed to meet their prime target for the season.
With Liverpool having secured a Europa League berth by winning the Carling Cup in February, Suarez mentioned that the Reds were now focused on performing well in the less glamorous European competition.
He continued, “Obviously playing the Champions League the year after next and next season, there is a good opportunity to win the Europa League.”
Suarez also expressed his gratitude towards the fans, for standing behind the team in their difficult time.
He added, “The fans have backed us all the way and with all the affection they give you, it makes you feel really good on the pitch.”
