Veteran http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jamie-Carragher-c17728, has insisted that Luis Suarez is the best player in the Premier League.
The English International’s remarks came following the striker’s yet another remarkable performance against Chelsea on Sunday.
The 25-year old headed in a goal late in the second half to help the Reds claim an improbable 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge, in a match in which his team-mates struggled to cope with the Blues whirlwind midfielders.
It was Suarez’s eighth league goal of the season and eleventh in all competitions. The Uruguayan ace has delivered for Liverpool at a time when things were falling to pieces around him. Although the team still find themselves tottering in the bottom half
of the table, their plight could have been far worse had it not been for the striker’s inspirational form.
Based on what he has seen from the mercurial forward so far and his value in the team, Carragher has dubbed Suarez as the best player in the Premier League.
The veteran Englishman, who has capped over 700 appearances for the Merseyside club, believes that the striker is not as prominent as other top players in the league due to his side’s struggles. Had he been in a team like Chelsea, his accomplishments would
have been further magnified.
“I’ve said for 12 months now that he’s the best player in the Premier League because he’s maybe not playing alongside the kind of players that, for example, the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 players can play alongside,” he told the reporters in an interview.
“He’s one of the best players in world football and we are delighted to have him. He does things in a game that we see him doing in training on a daily basis.”
Liverpool currently occupies 13th place in the league standings. Brendan Rodgers’ troops have only netted 14 goals from their 11 matches, with 8 of them coming from Suarez.
Even though the debate of whether the Reds have become over-reliant on the Uruguayan footballer has become more profound of late, Carragher viewed the scenario from a different angle.
He underscored that every team have got ‘standout’ players, citing the examples of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cristiano-Ronaldo-c9629, and that Suarez was theirs’.
