Liverpool's striker, Luis Suarez believes that Andy Carroll has finally started to play to his much talked-about potential, and he is one of the best players in the league, when it comes to aerial ability.
The burly English footballer, who came to Anfield from Newcastle United for a club record fee of 35 million pounds in January last year, has gone through an onerous period at Merseyside. So far, he has scored just 10 goals for the Reds in 50 appearances.
However, the striker managed to find the back of the net in his last two games. He scored a stoppage time winner against Blackburn http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385 at Ewood Park, in a Premier League game. A week later, he propelled the Reds to the final of the FA Cup, by scoring
a later header against the Toffees in the semi-final.
Despite his poor goal tally for the Reds, Suarez pointed out that the striker has played an important part in setting up goals for his team mates. He explained that Carroll uses his height to his advantage, and makes it easy for the smaller strikers like
him, by winning majority of the balls in the air.
"I think it's great for us to have a player of his ability and style," Suarez told the club’s website.
“His height and his ability in the air and to bring the ball down makes it easy for us smaller forwards in the side to link up with him. You only have to be running alongside him”
The Uruguayan footballer also highlighted the fact that, Carroll has finally started to live up to the expectations of the club, and believed that goals against Blackburn and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c13019 can be the defining moments in the player’s career at Anfield.
He remarked, "I think he's showing that his technique on the ground has really come on and I think in the games where he has featured recently we are now seeing the Andy that we've all been wanting to see and he's really contributing, which is important."
Carroll was a huge success at Newcastle United before arriving at Merseyside, and scored 33 goals for the Magpies in 91 appearances.
