http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809’s controversial striker, Luis Suarez attributed the Reds paltry goal tally this season to bad luck, and believed that his team have been guilty of profligacy in front of the goal.
The Anfield side have suffered a dejected Premier League campaign, which saw them crash down to the eighth spot in the league table.
For Kenny Dalglish, the problem has remained up-front, with the Reds managing only 40 goals in their 33 league games. Blackburn http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rovers-c40385, who are currently entrenched in the relegation zone, have scored more league goals then Liverpool this season.
So far, Suarez is the leading goal scorer for the Merseyside team with 8 scalps, followed by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Craig-Bellamy-c9471, who has found the back of the net 6 times.
However, the Reds have been impressive defensively, and are fourth in the league, in terms of least number of goals conceded.
The Uruguayan International reckoned that his side had created chances on consistent basis, but were thwarted by luck on a host of occasions.
The Reds have hit the goal-post 29 times this season, more than any other team in the Premier League.
“When you shoot, you can look for the spaces between the posts and the goalkeeper,” Suarez told LFC magazine.
“But instinctively you usually aim for the corners, which means that there's a chance the ball might hit the post and I think we have hit the post more times than the crossbar. As a striker, you can shoot from 25 yards and hit the post.”
Liverpool have suffered eleven league defeats, and managed only twelve wins this season. In total, they have played out 10 draws, with 9 of them coming at Anfield.
Despite the appalling league figures, Suarez remained upbeat and thinks that his side will only improve in the next season.
"There is an element of luck. It would be more worrying if chances were not being created. Maybe next season, all the ones that hit the post and come out may go in.”
Even though Liverpool are likely to miss out on a top-six finish, Dalglish’s side have already qualified for the Europa League next season, by lifting the Carling Cup in February.
