Leonid Slutsky has hinted at signing a new striker during the summer transfer window after losing out http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Seydou-Doumbia-c33175 and Tomas Necid in two-months
CSKA Moscow head coach, Leonid Slutsky, was left stunned after Anderlecht’s Matias Suarez’s proposed move to the Moscow-based club broke down following the Argentina International’s failure to pass the medical examination at Moscow.
Though the Koni failed to sign Suarez, the Red-blue have managed to sign Mario Fernandez and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/AZ-c38571 Alkmaar.
“Fernandez, Elm and Suarez were the number one in our list of acquisitions for the coveted positions. We did not know that we are paying a decent amount for a player that will remain in the hospital for the next four months.”
“He is a multifunctional striker, who can decide the fate of the match on his own.” The former Uralan Elista manager was quoted as saying.
The 24-year-old striker was likely to join the Russian outfit on a three-year contract, subject to a medical on Thursday.
Suarez was examined at Munich on Thursday. The results of tests revealed that the player is suffering from a knee problem that required an immediate surgery. Consequently, the former Belgrano player is expected to miss up to four
months.
Anderlecht’s manager, John van den Brom, recently confirmed that Suarez is closing in on a move to the Moscow-based club as the Belgian club cannot afford the prolific striker, who scored 12 goals in 35 appearances last season.
And now that the proposed move is in jeopardy, Slutsky is sweating upon the fitness of his first-team strikers, Tomas Necid and Seydou Doumbia.
Necid sustained a knee injury while on away duty with his national side at Euro 2012 while Doumbia limped off the field after sustaining a back pain. It was later found that the Ivorian forward needs an operation for disk hernia.
Slutsky lamented the striker crisis at the Moscow-based club, admitting that he has no option other than to bring in a decent attacker this summer. The 41-year-old believes that he can find out a promising player until the transfer
window shuts.
