Sub, Amp and factory car stereo?

I have a 07 Honda Civic Si. It came with a factory 8 inch sub that doesn't do much. On the factory head unit you can control the sub by putting +6 to -6 and off. My question is, if I get a sub and amp and hook it up to the factory radio will the control for the sub work with the after market sub and amp? Would I be able to turn off the sub with the factory radio controls? Please let me know I am looking into buying a sub this week. Thank you

Yes, if you replace the factory sub with an aftermarket amp and sub on that same line, then everything should work just as it does now.

it will work as long as you keep that stereo put

Check the back of the factory stereo is there an RCA out if so the sub controls should be functional
