I bought my new car and want to put in a amp and sub. I know nothing about audio systems and don't want to pay a shop to install it. I can buy the equipment on my own and have a friend install it, I just need to know what to buy!

HELP!!!!

  1. first give me a budget to work with. you get what you pay for in car audio.

  2. depends on how much u want to spend hooking them up is a breeze some amps anymore even come with a cd to help u hook them up if ur goin to run 1 sub start out with a 500 or 600 watt amp anything more is just more bass then u will need unless u wanting to go big remember ur car has to have power to run light guages and everything else leave some power for that. remember some of the best stereos are 1s that sound good and guess what u dont spend as much money anybody can tell u what to buy but u r the 1 that is listening to it some people say sony is junk but i have run my hard for 2 year and it still workin hope that helps oh make sure u buy a good 12 inch sub 10" are great but u dont have to run as much power to push a twelve and will still sound good make sure u get either a sealed box or if it inside a car think about a ported box ROCK ON!!!!!

  3. okay... lets say you dont wanna spend much money, buy a pioneer sub from walmart. they are actually pretty loud... get a sony xplode amp from walmart that will match the rms of the sub with the rms of the amp... then you will

    1. Buy wiring kit from Walmart, it works fine, be sure to get the 1000w kit or maybe the 1400 kit, it will come with a cap.

    2. When you get the kit take the power wire (long and probly red, if from walmart pbly blue) and attach it to the positive terminal on your battery.

    3. Cut the power wire in half about a foot from your battery.

    4. Install the fuse block, (do not install the fuse at this time)

    5. Run the power wire attached to the fuse block through the firewall (might need to drill hole) back to your amp.

    6. Take your ground wire and find like a seat bolt or a secure bolt touching bare metel and install the ground wire to that.

    7.  Run your RCA cables from the head unit to the amp.

    8. Run your remote wire from the head unit, from the wire that says eaither "remote/ amp turn-on" or " power antenna" the remote wire will be blue and the power antenna will be yellow "usually" to the amp.

    9. Insert the power wire into the amps power place, will say something like, B+ or +12v or pwr.

    10. Insert the ground wire into the amp. will say something like GND or -12V

    11. Insert the RCA cables into the amp, will be little jacks pbly red and white.

    12. Insert the Remote wire from the head unit into the amp,

    will say RMT or Remote.

    13. Run + and - wires from sub into one of the amps + and - speaker channels. ( you will only be able to use two channels if you only have one set of RCA cables)

    14. Install the fuse in the fuse block from the battery and turn the vehicle on, amp should turn on with cd player and you should be bumpin...

NOTE: If you get the kit with the cap you will have to run the power wire to the cap then another to the amp and a seperate ground for the cap and the amp... before you install the cap you have to charge it, it will come with a charger and instructions to charge...

hope this helps... thanks for listning....
