I have a really expressive face and I don't know what to do about it?because when ever I'm thinking about something else or zoned out people ask me if I'm ok. I look sad when I'm not paying attention? I also sometimes get into trouble from teachers for 'making faces' lol it's quite embarrassing.

  1. You're going to have to keep a smile on your face consciously if you want to stop. If you are a loner this may be easier as during times when you are alone it gives you good practice. Then again, sometimes those non-verbals are good indications for others to judge whether or not something is bothering you.

  2. Lol, I've experienced that before. My "listening" face happens to give people the impression that I'm retarded, because it looks very "confused" or "befuddled". So during class when I'm listening to the teacher and concentrating very hard, once in a while a teacher will stop and ask if I need him to explain it again or slower.

Also, sometimes my face will betray what a really feel. Like when my Mother in Law comes over I think I'm smiling, but apparently my face twists into a mask of spitefulness and hate. D:

If you're asking how to deal with this, it helps to make faces in front of a mirror while you're talking on the phone. See how your face reacts to certain things the person says; how does it look when you're surprised, how does it look when you find something funny? What about when you're angry? That's the first step to fixing it.

  3. Welcome to the club! It is not all that uncommon...think about it, they even have a saying that says: Its written all over your face.....

  4. i  had the same problem at school, so i use to wear a batman mask. it worked, but i spent 4 years living in a cave as well.

  5. I've lived with the same thing for 52 years. I haven't figured out a way to stop it without making a conscious effort, which usually results in an even stranger expression. Good luck in beating this problem.
